Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Star President Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan said the State Government will not engage an independent assessor until the dispute over Sabah’s 40pc net revenue entitlement is resolved.
This statement comes amid ongoing negotiations with the Federal Government regarding the implementation of Article 112C and Part IV of the Tenth Schedule of the Federal Constitution, which outlines Sabah’s entitlement to 40pc of net revenue collected from the State.
Jeffrey, who is also the Deputy Chairman of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), said the State Government will continue to pursue a resolution to the dispute before considering any external assessments.
The decision follows a recent announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim regarding a special RM600 million grant for Sabah, which will be included in the 2025 Budget.
While the grant is a temporary measure, it represents a doubling of the amount received by Sabah this year.
However, Jeffrey’s statement underscores the State Government’s commitment to seeking a permanent solution to the revenue entitlement issue before resorting to external assessments.
The Sabah Law Society has filed a legal review regarding the 40pc revenue entitlement in the High Court, further highlighting the ongoing efforts to resolve the dispute.
