TUARAN (Nov 24): Shangri-La Rasa Ria Resort welcomes the start of the festive season with a difference this year.
Instead of lighting a Christmas tree like in the past, this time the resort has made an airship for the occasion much to the delight and thrill of the guests.
Yesterday evening, guests welcomed the enchanting decoration crafted from repurposed construction waste material, designed by the talented artisants of Upcycled Shack and Orbena Bamboo.
This event marks the beginning of the “Enchanted Wonders” celebration , a series of sustainable and family-focused activities set on the beach of Pantai Dalit.
The theme of the event, “Enchanted Arrival of the Airship”, highlights the Shangri-La Family Experience, where the airship travels around the world, inspiring families to unite in celebration of love, laughter and holiday magic, creating lasting holiday memories at Shangri-La.
Fiona Hagan, the general manager of Shangri-La Rasa Ria Resort, shared her excitement about the new installation and the resort’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
“At Shangri-La Rasa Ria Resort, we are deeply committed to our Environmental, Social and Governance values. We always aim to do good for the people in our community and nature. With the Enchanted Wonders -themed Christmas, we have invited local partners and local community to work together for waste-reduction solutions in our holiday decorations using sustainable, handcrafted elements made from agricultural and textile waste.”
Families will find numerous delightful activities to engage in, from beach, pool and golf activities to family beach soccer and evening community markets. The resort has also curated unforgettable dining experiences, featuring unique holiday favourites and exclusive cocktails, ensuring there is something for everyone. Guests can look forward to indulging in the special options, including bathtub breakfast in the Ocean Wing Junior Suites, private sunset gazebo dining and bonfire dinners. “Additionally our restaurants will offer a variety of festive menus, showcasing local and international cuisines, and our bars will serve specially crafted cocktails and mocktails,” she said.
Prior to the airship unveiling ceremony, carollers from Sing For Joy gave an enchanting performance to add to the festive joy while staff of Rasa Ria Resort danced for the guests.
Founded in 2013, the choir is comprised of around 30 singers from diverse backgrounds, united by their love for God and music.
Under the direction of the late Wendy Sandah, they had performed at various venues and events since then. Now they are led by her son Fredell Ajuron Joni, while the choir is conducted by Camelia Nyuk.
This choir consists of different age groups from villages in Tuaran and Tamparuli.
Rasa Ria Resort will also officially launch the first of its kind bioluminescent mushroom with illuminated LED light display in Malaysia on December 12.
The guests were given a sneak peek into the Rasa Ria Reserve After Dark: The Glow Experience which is brought to life by the Institute of Tropical Biology and Conservation at the University of Malaysia Sabah and Sound Tech Productions.
