KOTA KINABALU (Nov 25): China is set to extend its visa-free entry for Malaysian passport holders from the current 15 days to 30 days.
The new policy will start from midnight on Nov 30 and run until midnight on Dec 31, 2025, the Chinese Consulate General in Kota Kinabalu said in a statement today.
From midnight on Nov 30, Malaysians can enter China visa-free and stay in the country for no more than 30 days for the purposes of doing business, sightseeing, seeing relatives or friends, making transits, attending exchange programmes, or making visits.
Those who do not fall into the above-listed categories still need to obtain a visa before going to China.
On May 31 this year, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had said that China had agreed to extend its visa exemption for Malaysian tourists from 15 to 30 days.
He announced this during the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China in Beijing.
