TENOM (Sept 28): Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor has confirmed that part of the Sabah Forest Industry (SFI) land will be released and designated as village land.
He noted that several thousand hectares within the company’s forestry concession have been identified for this purpose, allowing residents to occupy the land legally.
Additionally, he plans to instruct the Land and Survey Department (JTU) to implement the Sabah Native Land Services (PANTAS) programme in the area.
This initiative aims to address long-occupied lands, facilitating measurements and granting titles to rightful owners.
“I assure you that we will ensure several thousand acres of SFI land are released for our villagers in Tenom,” he stated during the annual meeting of the Gagasan Rakyat Sabah in Kemabong.
He also addressed proposals from local leader Datuk Rubin Balang concerning community interests.
Following this, Hajiji mentioned he would meet with the company to discuss the land release proposal.
