PENAMPANG: Datuk Seri Dr. Joachim Gunsalam, the acting president of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), stated that negotiations for cooperation with Pakatan Harapan (PH) are possible as they prepare for the forthcoming state election.
However, he emphasised that this is contingent on PH candidates adopting the GRS symbol and being assigned fewer than 15 seats.
“If they do not use our symbol, we are essentially conceding the losing seat,” he remarked.
Gunsalam made these comments to reporters following his address at the PBS-Star first joint convention held here on Saturday.
He also reiterated the significance of GRS contesting as a unified bloc, expressing that PBS is willing to collaborate with other parties, provided GRS maintains its dominance.
“GRS must remain dominant. It would be advantageous if we could operate independently under GRS.
However, if PBS and STAR attempt to go solo without GRS, it would be detrimental,” he stated.
Gunsalam noted that discussions regarding seat allocations between PBS and Sabah Star under Gabungan Rakyat Sabah are still in progress, with both parties striving to prevent direct confrontations in the upcoming Sabah election.
