KOTA KINABALU (Nov 28): The Sabah Maju Jaya Secretariat, under the Chief Minister’s Department, conducted the Phase 2.0 Engagement Session on Refinement of Hardcore Poverty Data in Sabah (Session 01) with State Assembly members (ADUN) today at Hyatt Centric, Kota Kinabalu.
This engagement session specifically targeted State Assembly members from opposition parties. It was attended by two opposition members, Assaffal @ Samsul Kamal P. Alian (Tungku) and Dr Daud Yusof (Bongawan), as well as three representatives from Sungai Manila, Sukau and Darau.
The session followed the directive of the Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Noor, during the Third Meeting of the Fifth Session of the Sixteenth Sabah State Assembly held recently.
Chief Coordinator of the Sabah Maju Jaya Secretariat (SMJ), Datuk (Datu) Rosmadi Sulai, delivered a keynote address and presented an introduction to the “Ending Hardcore Poverty in Sabah” Programme.
Rosmadi stated that the state government is committed to achieving the agenda of eradicating poverty in Sabah. He called for the cooperation and assistance of all ADUNs in identifying the list of the poorest households in their respective areas.
He emphasised the importance of this engagement session in gathering input and suggestions, particularly from opposition ADUNs, to enhance the list of Heads of Households (KIR) and Household Members (AIR) omitted from the e-Kasih System within their constituencies. These names are to be added to the Sabah Poverty Database System (PADANS).
Rosmadi highlighted that the session reflects the openness and commitment of the current government leadership to eradicate hardcore poverty in Sabah. The Chief Minister has reiterated that efforts to eliminate poverty should transcend religious, racial and political boundaries.
As part of the session, ADUNs and their representatives were briefed on the PADANS system and the procedures for applying for system registration, which will aid in future intervention programs.
Also present at the session were the director of the SMJ Secretariat, Rosnih Othman, and other officials.
