KOTA BELUD (Sept 28): Kampung Kiau, located at the foot of Mount Kinabalu and known as one of the rural tourism destinations of Sabah, has been selected as a Kampung Angkat MADANI by the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, Datuk Ewon Benedick.
Ewon said the launch of Kg Kiau as the Kampung Angkat MADANI will be held on December 8, alongside the inauguration of the Tamu Desa Kg Kiau and the handover of the PANTAS land titles.
“I chose my own village, Kg Kiau, as the Kampung Angkat MADANI because I recognize there are still many needs and development requirements here.
“I hope the selection of this village as a Kampung Angkat MADANI will complement the existing facilities in Kiau and become part of the solution to the issues and needs of the villagers, particularly concerning village development matters.
“My ministry will take the lead in the development of Kampung Kiau as my adopted village. At the launching, I plan to bring federal and state government agencies and departments to facilitate the villagers in obtaining information about the services provided by these agencies and departments,” he said.
Ewon told reporters this after officiating the Moginakan Kiau 2024 Festival at the Kampung Kiau Nuluh Multipurpose Hall and the opening of the Kiau Cultural House here on Saturday.
