KOTA KINABALU (Sept 22): Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) president Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor wants the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) to ensure victory in the Melalap constituency in the upcoming State Election.
Hajiji said he does not want the constituents of Melalap to lose out by being represented by the opposition and thus urged GRS members to unite to secure a resounding victory for GRS-PH Plus in Melalap.
Datuk Peter Anthony is the assemblyman for Melalap after defended the state seat for the second term in the 2020 state election on a Parti Warisan ticket. He left Warisan and now leads Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat.
The Chief Minister reminded party leaders to learn from past mistakes and lamented that Sabah has fallen behind due to division.
“Sabah’s political history has been filled with conflicts. This should serve as a lesson. If there is unity and reliance in the Sabah Maju Jaya development plan, Sabah will experience significant changes in the future,” he said.
According to Hajiji, Gagasan Rakyat is a multiracial party, and its mission is to bring progress and prosperity to all, regardless of race, religion or heritage.
On the motions passed by the Melalap Gagasan Rakyat Division during its annual meeting, Hajiji assured that they would be thoroughly reviewed and considered.
“There are many long-pending land applications that have yet to receive approval.
“There are village lands within forest reserves, and I will work to have them designated as legal village reserves,” he said and stressed that that since the government took over, thousands of acres of land have been released from forest reserves across Sabah.
Hajiji said he will pay serious attention to similar issues in Tenom.
During the event, he received 1,500 new membership forms for the Melalap Gagasan Rakyat Division.
He also extended contributions to victims of the natural disaster that hit Tenom on September 17.
Also present were Melalap Gagasan Rakyat Division chief Datuk Jamawi Jaafar, Kemabong Gagasan Rakyat Division chief Datuk Rubin Balang, Gagasan Rakyat treasurer-general Datuk Ghulam Haidar Khan Bahadar, divisional chiefs, as well as GRS and Pakatan Harapan component leaders.
