TUARAN: The Democratic People’s Welfare Party (KDM) urges the people of Kiulu to bravely implement changes to ensure that more benefits can be brought into the area.
KDM Vice President Henry Saimpon stated that these changes can be initiated through the 17th State Election (PRU17) as a starting point.
He emphasised that this step is crucial to prevent the development situation in the Kiulu constituency from remaining at a level of “irim iri kasari” (no significant changes).
“For instance, a stretch of the main road to Kiulu has been neglected for years, deteriorating to the point of near collapse, and only now are we taking action… there has been no sense of urgency to repair this road despite knowing its importance for the residents of Kiulu.
“We cannot wait another 5 years to see changes, and the people must be willing to try something new by giving opportunities to new parties or representatives to advance this area,” he said.
Henry, who is also the Kiulu KDM chief, made these remarks while speaking at a gathering with the heads of the Polling District Centres (PDM) for the Kiulu town, Pukak town, Malanggang Baru, and PDM Rangalau in Rangalau village today.
Also present were Vice President Dr. Oswald Aisat, KDM Secretary-General Gundohing Willie Jude, KDM Inanam Coordinator Datuk George Guntarik, and KDM Kemabong Coordinator Roger.
Meanwhile, Henry believes there is still much room to help develop sports in the Kiulu area, including discovering new talents or youth who can be promoted to higher levels.
As a former Sabah football player, he is ready to focus on efforts to develop sports in the Kiulu constituency if given the mandate in the upcoming elections.
He also hopes that the system for purchasing and marketing rubber or agricultural products from the villagers can be improved in the future.
