KOTA KINABALU, Oct 14 (Bernama) — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) discovered two safe houses and confiscated RM321,000 in foreign and local currency in its investigation of a case involving Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI).
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said four individuals were detained last Thursday (Oct 10) to assist in the investigation.
One of them, who is related to the company’s director, is on remand until tomorrow (Oct 15), he said, adding two others were released on MACC bail yesterday, while another was only held on remand for a day.
He said the MACC had recorded statements from 15 witnesses to facilitate the investigation.
Azam was met by reporters after attending the 2024 Integrity, Governance and Anti-Corruption (KITA) Convention which was opened by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor here today.
Azam did not rule out more raids and arrests to be made in its investigation of the case.
It was reported yesterday that the MACC found RM5 million in foreign currency during a raid on an apartment unit in the federal capital believed to be used as a ‘safe house’ by a prominent politician.
