KUDAT, July 9 (Bernama) — The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) conducted a Nationalism Programme for the local community, including school students, at Pulau Banggi near here over two days starting July 1.
MAF, in a statement today, said the programme was carried out in the second quarter of this year at SK Semayan, SK Balambangan, and SK Dogoton.
“It aims to inculcate national spirit and engage with residents, especially students in maritime border areas who live far from the mainland, to ensure all levels of society have equal opportunities to participate in government-organised programmes,” the statement said.
The statement added that the programme focused on instilling love for the nation and the importance of defending national sovereignty as proud and sovereign citizens.
The initiative aimed to strengthen the patriotic spirit among island residents on the east coast of Sabah through activities such as displaying Malaysian flags around schools, delivering talks on nationalism, and distributing Relationship Building Items (RBIs) to students and teachers, it said.
A total of 10 MAF officers and personnel, along with 96 teachers and students, participated in the nationalism programme held at SK Dogoton.
“As the nation’s defence force, MAF personnel will continue to strive to maintain peace and national sovereignty and always work closely with the people to further strengthen the country’s security from any form of internal or external threat,” the statement added.
