LABUAN, Sept 29 (Bernama) — More than 100 volunteers took part in the 3rd series of a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, cleaning and beautifying Rusukan Besar Island today.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), Dr. Zaliha Mustafa, participated in the event, which forms part of a strategic initiative led by the Department of Federal Territories (JWP), Labuan Corporation (LC), and the Student Volunteer Foundation to enhance the beauty of Labuan’s popular island.
JWP in a statement to Bernama said the CSR campaign focuses on enhancing cleanliness and beautification efforts to support a more vibrant tourism industry in Labuan.
The collaboration involved various government agencies, local communities, and NGOs, including JWP, Labuan Corporation, Student Volunteer Foundation, Putrajaya Corporation, the Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA), Astro Awani, the Labuan Media Practitioners Association, Labuan Youth (Rakan Muda), and the G1 Contractors Association.
Together, they completed the final enhancements to Rusukan Besar Island’s key tourist areas, thanks to the CSR initiative, the island now boasts a rejuvenated appearance, with clean, scenic landscapes and upgraded facilities, including treehouses, beach swings, a café, new restrooms, and more.
The statement also confirmed the construction of a new jetty at the island which is set to begin in October to replace the aging and decayed old one.
These newly available amenities offer vast opportunities for both local and international tourists to enjoy the beauty of Rusukan Besar Island.
The cleaning and beautification efforts have brought a fresh, youthful charm to the island, adding significant value to Labuan’s island tourism industry.
