KOTA KINABALU, Oct 4 (Bernama) — Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) have reiterated their commitment to support Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), led by its chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, GRS information chief Datuk Joniston Bangkuai said.
He added that claims that the two GRS compoenent parties wanting to work with Warisan Party (Warisan) in the upcoming Sabah election were baseless.
“What’s reported is nothing more than speculation by unscrupulous parties with the malicious intent of destroying the strong unity in GRS,” the PBS information chief said about a Facebook post by Petagas PBS division chief Azmi Ahmad claiming that PBS, STAR and Warisan would form an alliance in the upcoming state election.
Joniston said Hajiji and GRS component party leaders held frequent meetings to tackle state and party issues, which reflected the coalition’s strong sense of unity, adding that STAR president Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan and PBS acting president Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam were committed to GRS and had stressed on the need to coordinate efforts to strengthen the coalition at a recent joint PBS-STAR leadership council meeting.
Meanwhile, Petagas PBS deputy division chief Ng Tze Tsai said in a separate statement that Azmi’s Facebook post did not reflect PBS or the Petagas PBS division’s stand and was his personal opinion.
“We are committed to support GRS under Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor’s leadership,” he added.
