NUSANTARA (Nov 28): Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe is the first minister from Sabah to visit Indonesia’s new capital city, Nusantara, in East Kalimantan.
Phoong and a group of Sabah entrepreneurs are invited by the Indonesian Consulate General in Kota Kinabalu to have a first-hand experience of the development of the new capital city and explore potential investment and business opportunities.
The two-day familiarisation visit began today with a visit to the Nusantara Command Centre which monitors the construction of the green city using sensor-based surveillance and monitoring systems, CCTVs and digital service integration.
They were also given a briefing on the progress of mega city development.
Among the places they visited was the future Indonesian presidential palace, Istana Garuda which is shaped like an eagle.
Nusantara, located on more than 250,000 hectares of rainforest land, will gradually replace Jakarta as the administrative center over the next two decades.
Also in the visiting delegation are Sabah China Chamber of Commerce (SCCC) president Datuk Frankie Liew, deputy president Brett Chua, secretary general Ir Ts Tan Kok Jyh, honorary advisor Dato Soh Poh Soon and committee member Ling Han Tze.
Tomorrow (November 29), the SCCC delegation will hold a business networking event with the Kalimantan Timur Chamber of Commerce.
They will discuss and explore about future business and trade cooperation and to promote and market the businesses from Sabah to the Indonesian potential business partners.
The two chambers will sign a memorandum of understanding.
In the afternoon, the Sabah delegation will visit the Balikpapan industrial area before leaving for home.
