KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has directed the Rural Development Ministry to spruce up the administration process at all district offices in the state.
“The Rural Development Ministry is an important ministry tasked to transform the rural areas and to uplift the peoples’ livelihood,” he said.In this respect, cooperation from all district officers is imperative to ensure the State Government’s development agenda can be implemented efficiently, he said.
“State and federal rural development projects must be implemented according to schedule. This also includes awareness programmes for the rural folks,” he said during his working visit to the Rural Development Ministry in Sembulan near here today.
“Most important, it is the task of the district officers to resolve problems at their respective districts,” he said.
The Chief Minister also wants delays in the issuance of allowance for the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) to be resolved promptly.
“I want the Ministry to monitor the performance of officers at the respective district offices and to ensure that works are carried out according to schedule including resolving the allowance issue,” he said.
Hajiji has directed the Ministry to conduct a relevant course for all personnel in each district office to resolve pertinent problems in the district.
During the working visit, the Chief Minister and entourage were briefed by Rural Development Ministry Permanent Secretary, Datuk Norlijah Danin on the Ministry’s ongoing programmes and those that have been successfuly implemented.
Among the programmes were the rural small development project, rural entrepreneur development, rural economy and amenity, poverty eradication, one district one product, supplementary economic activities, rural alternative water supply, rural alternative electricity supply and Rumah Mesra SMJ.
