KOTA KINABALU (Oct 3): The S.O.S. Heart Fund (SOSHF) has sponsored the treatment of its 727th patient, Muhammad Husein Abdullah from Tawau.
Its president, Datuk Eva Susau said the one-year and seven-month-old’s medical journey began with an appointment at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur on August 9, 2024, accompanied by his mother, Nursyafinie. Unfortunately, he was discharged the following day back to Tawau due to a chickenpox diagnosis.
After a brief recovery, Husein returned with his mother for a second appointment at IJN on August 3. On September 4, he successfully underwent corrective heart surgery. Following a smooth recovery, he was discharged on September 19.
Husein’s mother is a housewife and his father, Mohd Arman, works in a canteen. He has two elder siblings.
Throughout this process, Husein’s medical expenses were fully covered by the S.O.S. Heart Fund, and he also received an allowance from the Sabah House, ensuring that he had the necessary support during his treatment.
The total cost of his sponsorship was around RM61,000.
Husein’s parents conveyed a big gratitude to the SOSHF for the full sponsor and likewise the SOSHF wished to thank all generous sponsors and donors and especially the state government which is its biggest stakeholder.
The SOSHF also thanked the managing director of Borenos Fried Chicken, Janice Yeo for allowing the SOSHF to place a box for donating small change at her new outlet at Penampang Baru.
Yeo said Borenos Fried Chicken will be expanding to Kuala Lumpur next month.
Eva further mentioned that the collection at various places at Gleaneagles Hospital, Omma’s Oven and a few other places goes a long way to help the patients such as purchasing milk powder and transportation fees to see doctor.
She also informed that patients from the poorer background usually from the interior and northen part of Sabah, are still facing challenges each time they have to bring their children for doctor appointments in Kota Kinabalu and other districts as the cost of transportation can reach up to RM200 to and from their home to Kota Kinabalu and many are earning RM280 a month from their produce.
The president again appealed to the public to give generous donation to the SOSHF at Maybank account number 5101 4311 2262. All donations are tax exempted.
