KOTA KINABALU (Oct 21): Tuaran member of parliament Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau will continue advocate for the construction of the Type 2 Health Clinic in Tuaran, scheduled to be built in the Laya-laya area.
According to him, the urgency of the clinic construction is crucial and pressing as the Outpatient and Emergency Departments of Tuaran Minor Specialist Hospital are currently overwhelmed with a large number of patients seeking treatment.
“This situation causes some patients to leave without receiving treatment due to the long waiting times, or they rush to private hospitals. This is because Tuaran Minor Specialist Hospital is also a Referral Hospital for patients from Ranau Hospital, Kota Belud Hospital and Kota Marudu Hospital,” he said.
Madius said this in a Facebook post regarding the status of the Type 2 Health Clinic in Tuaran, which was listed in a parliamentary question and answer session on Monday.
He asked the Minister of Health when the Health Complex in Laya-Laya, Tuaran, which involves the construction of the Type 2 Health Clinic and the Tuaran Health Office, would be completed, and what allocation has been provided for its construction.
The United Progressive Kinabalu Organization (UPKO) Honorary President said the Ministry of Health (MOH) in its written response disclosed that RM50,000 had been approved for 2025 to carry out preliminary work for the project’s implementation.
“According to MOH, the construction of the Type 2 Health Clinic with quarters and the Tuaran District Health Office is a new project under the Rolling Plan 5 of the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (RP5, RMK 12) in 2025.
“The scope of the project includes the construction of a Type 2 Health Clinic, Tuaran District Health Office Block, 8 Class D quarters units, 40 Class F quarters units, the procurement of medical and non-medical equipment, as well as hardware and ICT systems,” said Madius.
The elected representative, who hails from Kampung Lokos Kiulu, stated that the Type 2 graded health clinic is larger than the Luyang Health Clinic.
“I will consistently continue to is expedited for the overall benefit of the local residents,” Madius added.
